Handcrafted soap is amazing and still in it’s true and pure form and therefore acts as both a cleanser and moisturiser. It doesn’t contain skin irritating chemicals and synthetic additives.
I enjoy making luxurious handcrafted soap, I make small batches because I’m always looking to try new tricks and experiment with natural ingredients.
Soap is made with two ingredients: Oils (fatty acids) and Lye (sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide dissolved in a water solution). Combining these two ingredients causes a chemical reaction called saponification. In this reaction, the oils and lye are spent and the outcome is glycerin and soap. This means that there is absolutely no lye left in the final product.
Check out my blog: Experience moisturised skin without moisturising, you’ll understand why handmade soap is so amazing and you’ll want to make/buy it.
I use traditional cold pressed techniques, which leaves in all the natural moisturising glycerin. It also means I never have to use preservatives because the consistency and pH level prohibit mould and bacterial growth. The soap is mild and gentle and has been made with 100% natural ingredients. The scent is always subtle because I refuse to use fragrance oils. As mentioned in the above article, companies don’t have to list all their ingredients, it’s those ingredients I don’t want.
Because my soap is natural, it is NOT tear-free.
This is an interesting article which explains what the added chemicals do to make it ‘tear-free’ it also informs about how toxic some baby shampoos are due to fragrance.
Caring for your soap:
Your soap is precious, so you want to make the most of it. It will soon become soft and mushy if left in a puddle of water, so keep it as dry as possible, using a draining soap dish. Unused soap should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place.
Paraben Free | SLS Free | Cruelty Free | Palm Oil Free | It’s also free from artificial fragrances and colourants.
